The town of Wigan

Wigan is a town located in Greater Manchester, approximately 16 miles northwest of Manchester city center. It's a town with a rich industrial history, particularly in coal mining and textiles, and visitors can explore its many museums and heritage sites to learn more about its past. One of the town's most famous landmarks is the Wigan Pier, which was made famous by writer George Orwell in his book "The Road to Wigan Pier". The pier is now a popular attraction with a museum and exhibition centre.

Wigan is also known for its great shopping and dining options, with several shopping centres, markets, and restaurants. The town has plenty of parks and green spaces where visitors can enjoy a walk or a picnic, and there are many cultural events and festivals throughout the year. Whether you're interested in history, shopping, or outdoor activities, Wigan is definitely worth a visit when exploring the Greater Manchester area.
